The PPBA Library Rules:
Checkout and Return Policies: Members of the club may check out books, VHS and DVDs at the General Membership meetings, or at any other time by appointment with the Librarian. Materials are due in at the beginning of the following General Membership meeting, so that they may be checked out other members during or after the meeting. If a member will not be at the meeting, he or she should make arrangements with the Librarian in order to return the materials prior to the meeting. They may be mailed in, or given to another member who will be at the meeting. Following these rules will ensure that all members are able to enjoy all the holdings of the club library.
Should a member fail to return the books when due, or make arrangements prior to the meeting for their return, he or she will be responsible for returning the materials to the Librarian as soon as possible. Librarian will call on the member to do so no more than 10 days after the General Membership meeting. If the member is still unwilling to return the materials, the Librarian may either go pick them up at member's location, or make arrangements with another person to do so.
The following was approved at the October 2008 PPBA Board Meeting: The PPBA member agrees to pay a fine equal to 58.5 cents (or the current approved IRS rate for mileage) for each mile the librarian or his designee has to drive to collect the materials. This mileage will be measured by a point-to-point map display in Google Maps or other similar source. (These funds will be donated to the club). Should the member fail to pay such a fine, he or she will be banned from checking materials out in the future.
Other Policies: A member has the responsibility of caring for the materials checked out and returning them in th same condition as they were checked out. Normal wear and tear excepted, if a member should return an item in a damaged condition, it is that member's responsibility to purchase a replacement item for the club, or to pay replacement costs for a similar item in used condition, as priced by a known outlet such as Amazon.com.
